"The Area Four Senior Citizens Planning Council, Inc. has been organized for charitable and educational purposes, to provide and promote social and educational services and activities which help the elderly remain independent and to stay in their own homes for many years to come, and to enrich their social activities so they don't feel so alone.
It is always a pleasure to serve them and know we have had a helping hand in providing them a little security and comfort. Hopefully we can do so for many more years to come."
-Rick Pesek, Past-Director

The Senior Meals Program is made possible by the Federal Older Americans Act of 1965 and many of the program standards are derived from the Act.

Eligibility: Age is the only requirement for participating in the services offered through the Senior Meals Program. Any person age 60 or older and their spouse, regardless of age, is eligible to participate in the program. There is a suggested donation of $5 per meal however we do not turn anyone away if they are unable to donate. We accept cash, check and EBT (food stamps).

Home Delivered Meals: Are available to persons meeting eligibility requirements. Hot meals are delivered 5 days per week in most communities (Monday - Friday). All persons receiving meals are expected to make personal, daily contact with the volunteer making delivery; if a problem is evident referrals are made to the proper authorities.

Congregate Meals: Are served in a variety of settings including senior centers, housing projects, fraternal organizations, religious properties, city buildings, county buildings, community centers and restaurants.

Nutrition Education: Education materials from a variety of sources are utilized by the Project to help our participants understand the importance of good nutrition. Most of the lessons are provided in the form of written materials, which are distributed monthly to all interested persons and can be found on the back of the menus.

Service Linkage: An added benefit of the meal service is the "Link" we provide to other services and information sources. Referrals are often made to other agencies that can help with participant concerns.
